Kawhi Leonard's future is generating buzz in the NBA again, with the Minnesota Timberwolves emerging as a potential destination if the Los Angeles Clippers decide to open the door to a trade this summer.
According to Law Murray on the Third Apron Podcast, the Los Angeles franchise would prioritize receiving established players rather than accumulating draft picks, with the intention of remaining competitive immediately and avoiding a rebuild.
In that scenario, a potential offer from Minnesota would be one of the most interesting proposals for the Clippers. The package would include Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle, the 28th pick in the next draft, and an unprotected first-round pick in 2033.
Murray believes the Timberwolves' proposal stands out especially for the immediate caliber of the players involved. Additionally, Minnesota would see Kawhi as an ideal piece to form a competitive core alongside Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels.
Leonard's name already appeared in rumors before the trade deadline, although the Clippers ultimately decided to keep him after re-signing James Harden and continuing to build around a competitive core.
Despite physical concerns in recent years, Kawhi remains one of the most impactful wings in the league. This season he averaged 27.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 65 games, posting one of the most efficient campaigns of his career.
