Jokić Reaches 200 Triple-Doubles in NBA History

Nikola Jokić continues to write NBA history. The Denver Nuggets center recorded his 200th regular-season triple-double on Wednesday and became the second player in league history to reach that milestone. Only Russell Westbrook, who accumulated 209 over his 18 seasons in the league, has more.

The Serbian star reached the mark in the Nuggets' victory in New Orleans (91-104), with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in 34 minutes. He was also his team's best player in terms of plus-minus (+17), shooting 8 of 13 from the field and perfect from the free-throw line on five attempts.

Nine away from Westbrook

Jokić reaches the milestone in his twelfth NBA season, six fewer than Westbrook needed to set the record. At his usual pace, the Sombor center has the all-time record within reach this very season: he needs nine more to tie it and ten to break it.

Last season, Jokić averaged 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists over 65 games, and this season he has returned to his usual level.

A game controlled from the start

The victory was decided in the first quarter, which the Nuggets won 37-18. The Pelicans closed the gap in the next two quarters, but Denver sealed the game in the fourth (25-18). Jamal Murray led the team with 23 points, and Zion Williamson scored 25 for the Pelicans, who remain winless (0-4). The Nuggets evened their record at 2-2.
