Partizan Stays Perfect with Thrilling Last-Second Win in Munich (84-86)

Partizan remains undefeated. The Serbian club won 84-86 on the road at Bayern Munich in EuroLeague Matchday 3, doing it the hard way: after a first half where they barely found their rhythm and a finish decided on the final possession.

A First Half to Forget

The Serbians started slowly. Carlik Jones, their primary playmaker, went scoreless for nearly two quarters, and Bayern took advantage to build a lead relying heavily on free throws. The German team controlled the entire first half without Partizan showing any signs of a comeback.

What kept the visitors alive was their accuracy from beyond the arc—they finished 6 of 13 from three-point range—and, above all, what they did on the defensive end when the game got serious.

Defense Changed the Game

The second half was a different story. Partizan recorded seven steals throughout the game and converted pressure into easy points, which is exactly what a team needed that wasn't generating well in the halfcourt. Jones finally appeared to post 16 points and five assists and ended up controlling the decisive minutes.

Luca Vildoza contributed 8 points and Kevarrius Hayes 7 from the paint. Nothing spectacular in individual numbers, but enough with the defense working.

Washington Against His Past

Bayern's best player was precisely a former Partizan player. Duane Washington Jr. scored 20 points against the team where he played, and Johannes Thiemann added 17 points and five rebounds. Bayern had control of the game for much of the contest and lost by two.

For the Germans, who had already suffered a heavy loss in Istanbul against Fenerbahce in the previous matchday (100-76), the season start is getting complicated. They also remain without several players who haven't made the rosters for the opening matchdays, including Niels Giffey and Kamar Baldwin.

Three of Three

Partizan leaves Munich with a 3-0 record and joins the teams that remain undefeated, alongside Fenerbahce. It's also the type of victory that defines a team: winning on the road while playing poorly for twenty minutes.
