Porzingis and Warriors Finding Common Ground

Kristaps Porzingis could remain with the Golden State Warriors, though not under the same financial terms as his previous contract.

The Latvian center enters a crucial offseason after a season marked by lack of continuity. His talent remains beyond question, but his physical issues weigh on any negotiation: he was only able to play 32 games in the 2025/26 season and his market value no longer moves in the figures of his last salary.

Golden State, according to Anthony Slater, sees his continuity as possible, but needs to adjust numbers to maintain salary cap flexibility and be able to strengthen the roster. That's why the most likely scenario involves a shorter deal at considerably less than the $30.7 million he was earning.

For the Warriors, retaining Porzingis would be a controlled-risk bet: a center capable of spacing the floor, punishing from outside, and providing protection near the rim. For the player, an opportunity to rebuild his value on a competitive team.
