Primera FEB: Leyma Coruña Dominates Gipuzkoa with Another Coliseum Masterclass (92-81)

A CORUÑA. Leyma Coruña closed out the regular season at the Coliseum with a convincing 92-81 victory over Gipuzkoa Basket in the Primera FEB, a win that keeps pressure on Obradoiro and strengthens the orange squad's candidacy in the final stretch of the season. The Coruña team dominated from the opening tip and showcased their best collective version, driven by Paul Jorgensen's accuracy and Mus Barro's interior impact.

The game had barely started when Leyma Coruña made their intentions clear. Guillem Jou opened the scoring with an attack on the rim, Mus Barro punished in the paint, and Paul Jorgensen added a two-plus-one to put the home team ahead. Another three-pointer from Jou set a blistering 10-0 run in less than two minutes and forced Gipuzkoa Basket to react immediately.

Although Tate halted the initial run, Carles Marco's team continued imposing their pace. With better offensive decisions, control of the boards, and higher shooting quality, Leyma Coruña extended their lead to 17-3. Gipuzkoa found some relief with Ngom, but the first quarter ended clearly dominated by the Galicians (22-10).

In the second period, the orange squad continued moving the ball fluidly and took advantage of the visitors' defensive lapses. Caio Pacheco and Dídac Cuevas generated constant advantages, while Micovic and Jorgensen punished from beyond the arc. A two-plus-one from Mus Barro brought the score to 30-13 and threatened to definitively break open the game.

Gipuzkoa tried to resist with Nacho Varela's character and Korsantia's energy, timidly closing the gap. However, Jacobo Díaz, Cuevas, and Thiam responded in critical moments. Before halftime, a three-pointer from Paul Jorgensen restored calm to the Coliseum and left the score at 48-33 heading into the locker room.

After the break, the first blow came from the home team with another Jorgensen three-pointer. From there, Mus Barro emerged with force, dominating the physical battle with Ngom and Korsantia. The Senegalese center scored several consecutive baskets under the rim to push Leyma Coruña to 59-42 and consolidate control of the game.

The timid visiting reaction, led by Hanzlik and Ansorregi, was neutralized immediately. Free throws from Thiam and Cremo, combined with a three-pointer from Brnovic, extended the lead to 68-48. Although Tate resumed offensive responsibilities alongside Nicolau and Ngom, the third quarter ended with a clear 75-55 advantage for the Coruña side.

In the final period, some local relaxation appeared and Gipuzkoa took advantage to cut into the deficit. Motos, Hanzlik, and Nicolau led a run that reduced the gap to 78-70 and forced Carles Marco to call a timeout. The Coliseum responded by pushing their team in a critical moment.

With less accuracy but plenty of competitive solidity, Leyma Coruña maintained their advantage through defense, rebounding, and free throws. A three-pointer from Jacobo Díaz with three minutes remaining sealed the game (86-72). Gipuzkoa Basket pressed in the final moments, but the home victory was never in danger and the final score settled at 92-81.

Leyma Coruña concludes the regular phase at home with a spectacular record of fifteen wins in sixteen games at the Coliseum.
