Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos Defeats Lleida 81-94

The Burgos team secures victory against iLERNA Lleida 81-94 after turning the game around in the second half, with Steward and Chase Audige (20 points) leading the offensive charge

Recoletas San Pablo Burgos earned its first Liga Endesa victory by defeating iLerna Lleida 81-94 in a contest that remained undecided until the final moments.

On the 25th anniversary of the Barris Nord's inauguration, the Catalans displayed excellent basketball but were hampered by poor shooting percentages from beyond the arc (20%). Meanwhile, Burgos grew stronger as the game progressed and was efficient when it mattered most.

DJ Steward and Chase Audige, both with 20 points, led the Burgos offense. For Lleida, James Batemon once again stood out for the home team (16 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists).

Both teams started the game somewhat erratically on offense and committed several turnovers, which led to a fast-paced game with quick possessions (7-6, min. 5).

With the first substitutions, neither team improved their offensive efficiency. The visitors opted to slow down their possessions slightly, while the home team remained true to their dynamic style and scored from the free throw line (20-19, min. 10).

In the second quarter, Lleida found its rhythm on offense and, following a fast break finished by Melvin Ejim, built a six-point lead—the largest of the game so far—forcing Porfirio Fisac to call his first timeout (34-28, min. 16).

Gradually, the Castilians responded and, without stringing together a major run, managed to cut the deficit to just one point, prompting Gerard Encuentra to call a timeout (40-39, min. 19).

Lleida, wearing its blue kit today in tribute to the Caprabo Lleida that inaugurated the Barris Nord, tightened up defensively and had open looks to extend the lead in the final minutes of the first half, but managed only one point. Thus, the teams went into halftime with 41-39 on the scoreboard.

After the break, Lleida began to struggle offensively, which Fisac's team capitalized on, playing more consistently to take the lead and seize the initiative on the scoreboard for the first time since early in the second quarter (52-56, min. 29). A basket by Batemon set the score at 54-56 heading into the final period.

Just when the home team had doubts, the Batemon-McGhee duo took control, putting together a 6-0 run to start the quarter that electrified the Barris Nord (60-56, min. 31).

The game entered a phase of back-and-forth scoring where Chase Audige shined especially bright, converting the first eight points of his team in the period and pushing his side five ahead (62-67, min. 35).

Although iLerna Lleida kept its comeback hopes alive until the end, a missed three-pointer by McGhee with less than a minute remaining essentially decided the contest (77-84, min. 39).

In the final moments, the Catalans committed several offensive mistakes that allowed Burgos to set the final score at 81-92, a result that does not reflect the equality throughout the forty minutes.
