Río Breogán Reaches Galicia Cup Final with Thrilling Victory Over Monbus Obradoiro (81-84)

The Lugo-based team will face Leyma Coruña this Sunday for the title after winning a closely contested match against Monbus Obradoiro.

Río Breogán qualified for the Galicia Cup final after defeating Monbus Obradoiro 81-84 at Fontes do Sar. The Lugo team, defending champions of the tournament, will play for the title this Sunday against Leyma Coruña, who defeated Ourense in the first semifinal (94-89) on Saturday.

The home team started strong and dominated much of the first half thanks to their superior shooting accuracy and rebounding dominance. Monbus Obradoiro enjoyed a ten-point lead (41-31), but Río Breogán began to get into the game and through their defense managed to close the first half very close to their opponent.

After halftime, the Lugo team continued their progression and, building on their defense, managed to take the lead (46-48). The visitors entered the final quarter with a slight advantage (57-60), in a game that maintained parity until the end.

In the decisive stretch, Río Breogán managed to go up seven points (75-82) with less than a minute remaining, but Monbus Obradoiro reacted with six consecutive points and dreamed of victory. However, it was not to be as Tevin Brown made a free throw and, on the final possession, Diogo Brito missed the shot that could have sent the game to overtime.
