Scottie Wilbekin Signs with Besiktas After Fenerbahce Exit

Besiktas Istanbul has officially announced the signing of Scottie Wilbekin, one of the most experienced point guards in European basketball. The American player, who holds Turkish citizenship, joins the club after completing his stint with Fenerbahce.

Wilbekin played the 2025/26 season with Fenerbahce, though with limited playing time. In EuroLeague, he appeared in just 6 games, averaging 7.7 points and 1.3 assists, standing out particularly with his 44% three-point shooting. His lack of rhythm was affected by the serious anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered at the start of the previous campaign.

At 33 years old, Besiktas brings in a player with extensive experience in Europe. Wilbekin has played for Darussafaka, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Fenerbahce, and was one of the standout figures in the 2017/18 EuroCup, a competition in which he was the leading scorer, regular season MVP, and Finals MVP after leading Darussafaka to the title.

With Fenerbahce, he also won the 2025 EuroLeague championship, in addition to national titles in Turkey. His arrival brings experience, leadership, outside shooting, and the ability to generate points in the backcourt of a Besiktas team that continues to strengthen itself with heavyweight names for its new project.
