Unicaja Dominates in Vidorreta Debut, 67-105 Victory

Unicaja showcased versatility on offense and defensive intensity to win the III Javier Imbroda Memorial, defeating Melilla Ciudad del Deporte 67-105. Brazdeikis (20 points) and Kendrick Perry (28 rating) led the way in the convincing victory

The III Javier Imbroda Memorial stays in green and purple. Txus Vidorreta made his debut on the Málaga bench with a comfortable victory, 67-105, in which his team imposed their pace on offense and toughness on defense. Hunt and Lukošius delivered strong debuts defending the colors of the Los Guindos club.

Although Brazdeikis was the standout among the new signings with 20 points on perfect shooting, 6 rebounds and 3 assists for 27 rating points. However, the MVP was Kendrick Perry with 28 rating thanks to the 19 points and 9 assists he recorded.

Txus Vidorreta started with Kendrick Perry at point guard, with Cameron Hunt and Simonas Lukošius in the wing positions and Jonathan Barreiro and Yannick Nzosa in the paint. Smith opened the scoring, but the home team's advantage was short-lived. Perry brought pace to the game and, with Nzosa's contributions in transition, Unicaja extended to 5-14 just four minutes in. Melilla's response tightened the score, but Brazdeikis' three-pointer allowed the Málaga side to breathe and close the first quarter ahead, 18-27.

Unicaja returned to the court with even clearer ideas and unleashed an offensive onslaught that Melilla Ciudad del Deporte could not contain. Vidorreta's team extended the lead to 27-43 midway through the second period and continued punishing both on the fast break and in set plays. Defensive intensity remained high, allowing the Unicaja squad to reach halftime with the game well in hand, 34-55.

After the break, the pace picked up at the Javier Imbroda. Unicaja stepped on the accelerator again and within minutes extended the lead to 39-68. Lukošius took center stage with two consecutive three-pointers that pushed the margin even further to 43-78. In the final stretches of the third quarter the pace slowed slightly, but the Málaga side maintained control heading into the final ten minutes with a commanding 50-85.

The Los Guindos squad continued to enjoy the game during the fourth period and reached 54-98 with just over five minutes remaining. Tyson Pérez was responsible for pushing Unicaja past the 100-point mark, while Lukošius continued adding from beyond the arc and Guiddens made his field goal debut to set the final score at 67-105. Concluding a first test passed with flying colors for Txus Vidorreta's Unicaja, which begins its new era with a victory and positive vibes.
