Valencia Basket Signs Power Forward Mo Gueye to Reinforce Interior

Valencia Basket has reached an agreement with American power forward with Senegalese passport Mo Gueye (6'9", Staten Island, New York, USA, 07/08/1998, 28 years old) to join the club's first team roster for the upcoming season through June 30, 2027. The player comes from the United States, where he has been competing in both the NBA and the G League in recent seasons.

The power forward spent last season with the Chicago Bulls, playing for the affiliated team where he averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 47 games. With the franchise, he appeared in two NBA games, averaging 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. Now he lands in Spain with Valencia Basket for his first European experience competing at the highest level in Liga Endesa and EuroLeague.

Education in the United States
The player, born to Senegalese parents, was born in the New York borough of Staten Island. He began his studies at Monroe College in 2016, where he competed in the NCJAA, a competition organized by higher education centers. In 2019 he made the jump to the NCAA, joining Stony Brook University. In his second season he averaged 9.7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks per game and was recognized with the Defensive Player of the Year award in the Eastern Conference, in addition to being named to the All-Conference Third Team. In two seasons he recorded 129 blocks, the fourth-best mark in university history. In 2021 he transferred to the University of Pittsburgh, where he averaged 9.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks per game to close out his college career.

Between the NBA and the G League
In October 2022 Mo Gueye signed with the Dallas Mavericks to play with the affiliated team, Texas Legends, in the G League. His stats were 8.3 points, 5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2 blocks per game on average in 27 games. Later, in the summer of 2023, he played in the Summer League with the Toronto Raptors. He began playing with his team in the G League, where he averaged 14.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.6 blocks in over 31 minutes on the court, playing a total of 37 games. In February 2024 he made his NBA debut and finished the season having appeared in eleven games with the franchise with 11 minutes on the court.

In the summer of 2024, after playing in the Summer League with the Charlotte Hornets, the 2024-25 season was spent with Capital City Go-Go, the affiliated team of the Washington Wizards. In the G League he averaged 10 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1 block per game on average in 34 games. Last season the power forward landed in Chicago. He began playing with Windy City Bulls, where he had an important role in a campaign that went 47 games, averaging 15 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks in nearly 30 minutes on the court. In April he signed a contract with the franchise for the remainder of the season and made two appearances in the NBA. Against the Dallas Mavericks he stood out with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in 29 minutes on the court.
