Mikael Jantunen will not continue at Fenerbahce and his future could remain in the EuroLeague. According to Matteo Andreani, Valencia Basket is in a strong position to sign the Finnish power forward, though they are not the only club interested.
The player has also been offered to Olympiacos, who maintain interest in his situation. Jantunen becomes a free agent on the market and all signs point to him continuing to compete at the highest level of European basketball.
For Valencia, his profile would make considerable sense. He is a modern four, intelligent, with good court vision and the ability to contribute on both ends of the floor. He doesn't need much ball movement to be useful and could fit well in a project that is rebuilding its roster.
Jantunen already proved his value at Paris Basketball, where he was important in the EuroCup 2024 title and later competed in the EuroLeague. Additionally, he is a regular piece of the Finnish national team.
The deal is not yet done, but Valencia currently appears as one of the teams best positioned to sign him.
