jul 02 2026The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers have completed one of the biggest trades in the NBA offseason. According to Shams Charania, Jaylen Brown will play in Philadelphia, while Paul George heads to Boston along with a significant package of draft picks.
The deal sends Brown to the Sixers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Specifically, Boston will receive a 2028 first-round pick that could convert into a more favorable pick swap for the Celtics, plus an unprotected 2031 first-round pick from Philadelphia. The package is completed with a 2028 second-round pick (the most favorable between Golden State, Oklahoma City and Milwaukee) and a 2030 second-round pick (the most favorable between Washington, Portland and Phoenix).
Brown arrives in Philadelphia after an outstanding 2025-26 season with the Boston Celtics, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists, shooting 47.7% from the field. His addition gives the Sixers a star wing in his prime competitive years to pair alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
For Boston, the move marks the end of the Brown era and represents a different approach: acquiring a veteran like Paul George and, most importantly, reclaiming draft capital to maintain flexibility in the coming years. The trade completely shakes up the Eastern Conference and opens a new direct rivalry between two historic franchises.
