FIATC Girona in Talks with Mac McClung

FIATC Girona is working on a high-profile move. The Catalan club, first reported by @chemadelucas, is negotiating with Mac McClung, a 27-year-old, 6'2" American point guard known for his three NBA Dunk Contest titles and his status as one of the most dominant players in recent G League history.

McClung is more than just a viral name. Last season he was named G League MVP with the Windy City Bulls, becoming the first player to win the award on more than one occasion. He had previously won it in the 2023/24 season as well.

His numbers explain why Girona might see him as a market opportunity. In the 2025/26 season, he led the G League in scoring with 31.8 points, along with 7.9 assists and a 38.1% three-point percentage. He also had a 59-point night, a Windy City Bulls franchise record and one of the highest individual scoring performances in league history.

The question, as always with McClung, is whether that dominance translates to a different context. In the NBA, he has never managed to establish himself consistently, despite several short-term contracts and occasional opportunities. Europe, and in this case the Liga Endesa, could offer him something different: continuity, ball-handling responsibilities, and an important role.

For Girona, it would be an eye-catching move with risk attached. McClung has scoring ability, quick first step, the capacity to create advantages, and a name that attracts attention. But he would also have to adapt to a more tactical league, with less space and defenses that won't give him the same pace he finds in the G League.

The negotiation is not finalized. But if FIATC Girona manages to convince him, they would be adding one of the most recognizable players in the American market and a wing with real ability to change games through scoring.
