Keenan Evans Returns to Žalgiris Kaunas

Žalgiris has decided it's time to bring back Keenan Evans. The Lithuanian club announced Friday the return of the point guard, who signed a one-year deal with an optional second year this summer and had started the season on loan at London Lions in the EuroCup. In his four games in London, he averaged 11.8 points and 2.8 assists, with a 90.5% free throw percentage.

Two Years Lost to Injuries

The return to Kaunas closes a circle marked by bad luck. Evans tore his knee in May 2024 while still playing for Žalgiris, and that summer he signed with Olympiacos. It took him more than a year to return to play, and when he finally did, in Matchday 10 of the previous EuroLeague season and precisely against Žalgiris, he barely lasted two minutes on the court: he tore his left Achilles tendon. It was his only game with the Greek team, which ended up winning the 2026 EuroLeague with him on the roster, but without playing in the playoffs.

It wasn't the first time he had to rebuild. In the 2022-23 season, with Žalgiris, he tore his right Achilles 57 seconds into a game against Fenerbahçe, when he was averaging 16.8 points.

In Kaunas they remember his best version well. In 2023-24, his last complete season, he played all 34 EuroLeague games and averaged 17.3 points, 3.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals, numbers that placed him among the best point guards in the competition. If he recovers that level, he can give Žalgiris, which sits at 2-4 and hosts ASVEL tonight, the outside scorer they need.
