Lonnie Walker IV Returns to EuroLeague with Besiktas

Lonnie Walker IV's NBA stint with the Denver Nuggets lasted less than a month. The shooting guard was cut by Denver after three preseason games in which he played just 17 minutes, and now returns to Europe with Besiktas, who have made the signing official. It will be his third EuroLeague team in three seasons, following stints with Zalgiris and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Besiktas was looking for outside scoring, and Walker is a natural scorer. Last season he was one of Maccabi's offensive cornerstones, averaging 15.2 points per game in the EuroLeague in a role of around 23 minutes. Dusan Alimpijevic's team has a 2-3 record in the competition and comes off a decisive loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv in Sofia (100-82).

Walker arrived in Europe in the 2024-25 season after 342 NBA games with the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, and Philadelphia 76ers. He had a solid first year in Kaunas, and took a step forward as a scorer in Tel Aviv. His performance reopened the NBA door for him this summer with a non-guaranteed contract with the Nuggets, but Denver released him before the start of the season. Besiktas, who had him as one of their top targets, moved quickly. Their next game is Friday against Bayern Munich.
