Lorenzo Brown Nearing Hapoel Jerusalem Deal

Lorenzo Brown is close to finding a new team. The Spanish international point guard is negotiating a move to Hapoel Jerusalem, according to Israeli media Sport 5, in a deal that comes after weeks of uncertainty surrounding his future.

The terms being discussed

The agreement would be for one season, but with an important caveat: it would include the possibility for the Israeli club to release him after a few months.

In other words, it's not a guaranteed contract, but a low-risk formula for the club. And it's explained by the reason that opened this door: the injury to starting point guard Jared Harper, which has forced Sasa Obradovic's team to enter the market.

The message that preceded everything

Brown posted an enigmatic message on X a few days ago that was interpreted as an allusion to his situation at Olimpia Milano. His contract with the Italian club remains in effect and negotiations to terminate it have been stalled for months, with a fifty percent salary reduction on the table that hasn't come to fruition.

Until that is resolved, any agreement with Hapoel is contingent on his departure from Italy.

His 2025-26 numbers

His last season explains why the market hasn't offered him more. Brown played just twelve EuroLeague games with Olimpia Milano, averaging 5.8 points and 2.7 assists, with his last competition appearance on January 22.

At 36 years old, those numbers are far from the player he was at Maccabi Tel Aviv between 2022 and 2024, probably his best spell in Europe. Precisely that knowledge of Israeli basketball is one of the arguments in his favor in this deal.

What awaits him

Hapoel Jerusalem is competing in the EuroCup this season and makes its debut on September 29 away against Rostock SeaWolves. In other words, if the deal closes, Brown would arrive with the competition already underway.
