The Hiopos Lleida power forward led the victory over La Laguna Tenerife with a 39 rating, setting a historic club record in the process
Following the conclusion of Matchday 25 in the Liga Endesa, Melvin Ejim has been confirmed as Player of the Week. The Canadian achieves this recognition for the first time in his career, after delivering a decisive performance in his team's victory over La Laguna Tenerife.
The Catalan squad found in Ejim their great reference on the court, acting as the true compass of the team in a match of maximum demand. His impact was total on both sides of the floor, leading his teammates with authority.
Melvin Ejim finished the game with 39 rating points, also establishing the best historical mark in Hiopos Lleida's Liga Endesa history, surpassing the 33 previously set by James Batemon.
His offensive display translated into 29 points, with great shooting efficiency: 7 of 9 on two-pointers (78%), 2 of 4 from three-point range, and a perfect 9 of 9 from the free throw line (100%).
Additionally, his dominance in the paint was key, capturing 9 rebounds in a game where his team especially needed him following Goloman's absence. His presence was also felt in the collective performance, reflected in the +19 with him on the court.
The decisive moment came in the fourth quarter, where Melvin Ejim elevated his level even further to seal the victory. In just 8 minutes, he added 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 22 rating points, proving decisive in the game's outcome.
With this performance, the Hiopos Lleida player sets new personal highs in points (29) and rating (39) in the Liga Endesa. A record that comes in his fifth season in the ACB, following four previous campaigns with Unicaja and this first one with the Catalan squad.
After 153 games in the competition, Ejim is having his best individual season to date, averaging 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 12.4 rating per game.
He also becomes the second player in Hiopos Lleida's history to achieve this recognition, following his teammate James Batemon, who was named Player of the Week 12 in the current season.
