ago 12 2026Mindaugas Susinskas has found his next team. The Lithuanian small forward has signed with Sabah BC, the reigning champion of Azerbaijan's league, closing a three-season stint at Bàsquet Girona. With his new club, he will also compete in the Basketball Champions League.
His departure from Fontajau was confirmed on June 10, when the Catalan club announced he would not continue with the project and publicly thanked him for his commitment. Days later, his replacement arrived on the roster: Slovenian Aljaz Kunc.
Three Years of Quiet Professionalism
Susinskas was never the name that made headlines, but he was one of the coaching staff's trusted men. He arrived in Girona in the summer of 2023 from Niners Chemnitz of the German league, in the same season the club had Marc Gasol on its roster, and since then he played 98 Liga Endesa games with averages of 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1 assist in seventeen minutes.
His best weapon was always the three-point shot, with 41.8% from beyond the arc throughout his stint and 87.4% from the free throw line. Last season his performance dropped to 5.6 points per game in 33 games, with his three-point percentage reduced to 33.3%.
He once explained that he signed with Girona because he had always wanted to play in the ACB, which he considered the best domestic league in Europe. Three seasons later, he is leaving.
A Club on the Rise
At 31 years old, the 2.04-meter small forward trained at KK Alytus Dzukija and with a background at Prienu CBet and Wolves Vilnius finds in Baku a destination with European potential. Sabah BC is the reigning champion of Azerbaijan and its participation in the Basketball Champions League guarantees the Lithuanian player will continue competing in continental competition.
