NBA: Philadelphia 76ers Survive Boston Celtics, Force Game 7 (106-93) [3-3]

PHILADELPHIA. The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Boston Celtics 106-93 in Game 6 of the NBA playoffs thanks to a stellar performance by Tyrese Maxey, who scored 30 points, and the resurgence of Paul George, who was crucial with 23 points. The victory allows Philadelphia to tie a series that seemed decided after two losses by more than 30 points and forces a decisive Game 7 in Boston.

The Philadelphia 76ers came out determined from the start to avoid elimination and quickly found offensive rhythm with Tyrese Maxey constantly attacking the Boston Celtics defense. The point guard set the tone of the game with aggression in transition and the ability to create advantages, while Paul George showed his most solid version of the entire series with a very complete performance both in playmaking and from three-point range.

Joel Embiid's early return following his appendectomy was once again an emotional and competitive boost for the Sixers. The Cameroonian center contributed 19 points and provided balance for Philadelphia on both sides of the floor, especially in moments when Boston tried to mount a comeback.

Although the Celtics stayed close for much of the first half, the Philadelphia 76ers never lost control of the game. Jaylen Brown arrived at halftime hampered by foul trouble, which limited some of Boston's offensive aggression. Brown finished with 18 points, while Jayson Tatum added 17 in a difficult night for the Celtics star, who even had to temporarily leave the court in the third quarter to receive treatment for apparent calf soreness.

The decisive moment of the game came after halftime. With the game still in the balance, Kelly Oubre Jr. blocked a Jaylen Brown attempt, Maxey collected the loose ball and launched the fast break. Paul George then took center stage with a brilliant behind-the-back pass to VJ Edgecombe, who threw down a dunk to make it 69-54 and completely energized the Philadelphia crowd.

The play definitively changed the momentum of the game. The Boston Celtics fell into a deep offensive disconnect and went more than four minutes without scoring late in the third quarter. Philadelphia took advantage of the moment to open up a 82-63 lead heading into the final period and controlled the closing stretch with authority.

Paul George was decisive throughout the night. The veteran wing made five three-pointers, many of them at crucial moments to maintain the lead when Embiid was resting. After a season marked by injuries, personal issues, and a 25-game suspension, George delivered what was probably his most important performance since arriving at the Philadelphia 76ers.

Tyrese Maxey once again confirmed his status as one of the NBA's emerging superstars and led a Sixers team that now dreams of completing a historic comeback in these NBA playoffs after falling 3-1 down in the series.

The Boston Celtics, who had clearly dominated in their three previous victories, squandered the opportunity to close out the series and now must decide their path to the Eastern Conference semifinals at home against a completely revitalized Philadelphia 76ers.

The decisive Game 7 will be played Saturday in Boston, where the Celtics and 76ers will determine who will face the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
