Olivier Sarr and Damian Jones Set to Join Real Madrid as Interior Reinforcements
Real Madrid continues to build Pedro Martínez's roster and is preparing two new moves to strengthen their frontcourt. According to EL ESPAÑOL, the club will soon sign Olivier Sarr and Damian Jones, two centers coming from American basketball.
The arrival of both players addresses a clear need. Madrid wants to add depth to their interior rotation and cover for the long-term absence of Usman Garuba, who will not be available until the final stretch of the season after suffering a complete Achilles tendon rupture during the EuroLeague Final Four.
Olivier Sarr, older brother of Alexandre Sarr, arrives after competing in the United States with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he was signed to a two-way contract. He is a big man with size, mobility, and room to adapt to European basketball.
Damian Jones, meanwhile, will bring more experience. The American center has an extensive NBA track record and was a two-time champion with the Golden State Warriors. His role would be to enter the rotation alongside Walter Tavares and provide physical presence near the rim.
With these two moves, Real Madrid will have essentially solidified its frontcourt for the new season. Following the arrivals of Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, Jaime Pradilla, and Mikael Jantunen, the club continues rebuilding a roster heavily marked by the cycle change and the arrival of Pedro Martínez on the bench.
