Spanish Coaches Clash in Bologna: Dubai Defeats Virtus (75-93)

The matchup between Spanish coaches in Bologna had a clear winner. Xavi Pascual's Dubai dominated Àlex Mumbrú's Virtus in a game they controlled from start to finish. It was the second consecutive victory for the Emiratis, who are now in the upper part of the standings with seven wins. Virtus, meanwhile, has suffered four straight defeats across EuroLeague and Italian league play and falls to 4-6.

Dubai leads from the opening tip
Dubai started with a 4-11 run and never trailed again. Virtus stayed competitive in the first quarter (17-21) thanks to Aliou Diarra, the only player finding the basket with ease, but the second quarter tilted the game. With ball movement and Mfiondu Kabengele's easy looks near the rim, the visitors posted a 17-27 run and went into halftime with a 14-point lead (34-48).

A third-quarter closing that seals the game
Shengelia opened the second half with five straight points in front of his former crowd. Virtus responded and cut it to 12 (50-62), but Dubai answered with a 3-14 run late in the third quarter and put the game out of reach: 53-76, the largest margin of the night. The 11-2 run with which Virtus opened the fourth quarter (64-78) only served to make the final score look better.

Dubai's victory was built on balance: 22 assists and five players scoring double figures. Kabengele (16 points and 9 rebounds) and McKinley Wright (16) led the scorers, while Dwayne Bacon had a complete game (13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists). For Virtus, Diarra finished with 19 points and 7 rebounds, but Mumbrú's team made just 7 of 27 three-pointers.
