Trae Young will continue as the Washington Wizards' cornerstone player. The point guard has agreed to a four-year, $212 million deal, according to ESPN, after recently declining his player option.
The new contract includes a player option in the fourth year, allowing Young to commit long-term to the capital franchise while maintaining control over his future. His arrival in Washington came during the previous trade deadline, coming from the Atlanta Hawks, in a deal that also sent C.J. McCollum to the Georgia franchise.
Although he was able to play just five games with the Wizards, averaging 15.2 points, 3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists, the franchise maintains full confidence in his impact. Washington wants to build around his offensive talent, Anthony Davis, and the future No. 1 pick in the 2026 Draft.
The objective is clear: return the Wizards to the playoffs and accelerate a rebuild that, with Young's continuity, enters a new phase. In the capital, they hope the point guard recovers his best form and becomes one of the NBA's premier offensive generators once again.
