Cameron Hunt Extends Winning Streak in BCL!

Club Joventut Badalona secured a crucial victory on the road against Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets 83-85 with a buzzer-beater from Cameron Hunt. The green-and-blacks have now won their third consecutive game in the Top16, extending their unbeaten record to 9 wins in 9 games in the competition.

Miret's team started strong with a 0-7 run, but the German side responded quickly, 8-7. Penya, with better accuracy from three-point range, extended their lead again after a three-pointer from Vives, 11-17. Ricky continued to grow the margin, and another Vives three-pointer made it 13-24. The teams went into the end of the first quarter with that advantage, 15-27.

The hosts cut the deficit at the start of the second quarter, 22-30, prompting a Joventut timeout. Miret's team quickly adjusted, and a three-pointer from Hunt, returning to what was his home for four seasons, extended the lead to its maximum, 24-38. The Germans didn't give up, 31-40, but Ruzic's energy pushed the margin further, 33-47. At halftime, however, Wurzburg Baskets had narrowed the gap, with Penya leading 42-50.

The German team raised their physical intensity significantly and Joventut struggled to match the local pace, 51-55. The green-and-blacks had trouble scoring and had to step up their energy to maintain control of the game. Miret's team managed only 16 points in the third quarter, entering the final period with a four-point lead, 62-66.

An opening 7-0 run by the hosts forced another Miret timeout, 69-66. Penya couldn't regain control of the game, turning the ball over and being outmatched physically. Ricky stepped up, putting the team ahead 70-71, but the Germans took over again, 79-75. Hunt tied it at 79 with less than two minutes remaining, but that wouldn't be his last basket of the night. Because once again, when the game was on the line, Hunt stepped up. He scored to make it 79-79, then 81-81, and finally the decisive basket, 83-85 with a penetration at the buzzer.
