Red Star Signs Nick Weiler-Babb

Red Star has completed the signing of Nick Weiler-Babb for the 2026/27 season. The American shooting guard with German passport arrives in Belgrade after a season with Anadolu Efes and after being released from an agreement with ASVEL, which was affected by the French club's financial troubles.

It is a signing with plenty of experience for the Serbian team. Weiler-Babb is not a player who makes headlines for scoring, but rather one of those perimeter players who provide structure to a roster: he defends, passes, helps on the boards, limits turnovers, and can play multiple positions on the perimeter.

Last season with Efes, he averaged 7.7 points, 4.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 37 EuroLeague games. He led the team in assists and steals, and finished sixth in the entire competition in steals.

His profile fits a very specific need: raising the level of perimeter defense. It's no coincidence that he was named EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year 2024/25, an award that pretty much sums up his value. Since his debut in the competition with Bayern Munich in 2020, he has accumulated 215 steals, the fourth-best mark in the tournament during that span.

Before his time at Efes, Weiler-Babb spent five seasons at Bayern, where he left an important mark. He was one of the key players for the German club, won two Bundesligas and two Cups, and finished among the most prominent players in the team's recent history in games, points, rebounds, assists and steals.

He also carries significant international weight with Germany. He was part of the national team that won bronze at EuroBasket 2022 and reached the bronze medal game at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Red Star adds a reliable, competitive player with extensive EuroLeague experience. He doesn't arrive to change everything from a scoring standpoint, but rather to make the team better through defense, court vision, and balance.
